📸🎬 My Name is George Thabang GT mohoje born and raised in Lonely Park a dusty village in Maftown but currently i am based in Montshioa. I went to shcool at Boitseanape Technical High School for which a studied Electric engineering then proceeded to further my engineering studies at Kingsbridge College. I later changed from engineering to culinary studies and this resulted in me being a professional chef. My profession let to me being appointed in the heading of some reputable restaurants like Fishaways, Mugg n Bean,Steers& Romans where I served as a manager at some of them.
I am the Founder of Optic media, one of the best freelancing media company that deals with photography. In my line of work as a photographer I managed to deal and engage with brands such as which Mahika Mahikeng, Saftas Awards, Sama Awards, Satmas Awards, NFVF, McCafe. I hada a privilege to capture individuals such as Presley Chweneyagae, the late HHP, Khuli Chana, and International songwriter and musician Anthony Hamilton during his visit in South Africa.
I also have a clothing brand “Street KID”brand and it is one of the best competitive clothing brands locally with 6.8k followers in various online pedestals.
📰 Tell us about your brand“Street KID”
📸🎬 I always felt in love with fashion trends and designing, years later I started my clothing brand “StreetKID” which was significant to me in terms of meaning and inspiration. One my say the brand name has such negativity and it is something I wanted. I wanted a brand with little bit of “negativity” but with an element of positivity behind it. I believe in hustle like a street kid, people need to understand a phrase Street KID was used by whites during apartheid to quote and undermine black poor/unhealthy people but to me SteetKid is every person waking up every morning hitting a road to work or hustle, not everyone chose to be a street kid. The brand inspires many people and became one of the influential clothing brands known in Mafikeng lead by legendary brand Geen Suebat. We currently sit on +6.8K followers on Facebook page.
📰 Your target market and why, or are you targeting everyone in the market?
📸🎬 My relevant target market is the youth followed by adults. I believe that the youth is the relevant target and age group that needs to be motivated and hear the message on how one can achieve good things through hard work more especially after matric. A lot of them face a number of complex issues pre and after matric while they are also enjoying the excitement of finishing high school. A number of them become depressed and suicidal when they realize their expectations were not so realistic after matric.
📰 What would you say is unique about your brand?
📸🎬 I would say is the fact that we keep the originality of the brand and always come up with new fashion line to trend; we also open opportunity for upcoming designers to collaborate with us to have limited edition under our brand house. We also invite upcoming models for shoots and teaching them about brand shoots. Our logo was designed and edited by myself, looking at it, it has a story to tell and symbolize poverty over a Black Boy. The material of our brand are highly rated as we have homemade and imports.
📰 To this point what has been your challenges and how did you overcome them?
📸🎬 My challenge has been people opening pages and claiming they own the brand, I overcome the challenges by keeping my head up and keeping the originality of the brand & that’s why it has the most Followers than all pages named Street KID.
📰 How has the response been towards your brand and what would you like to say to those who has shown you their support?
📸🎬 The response has always been amazing and I am grateful to each and every one taking part in our activations, sales, competitions, trends, hashtags, photoshoots, branding studio, ideas etc may yall be blessed!
📰 What are your future plans?
📸🎬My Future plans are to grow my brand more and more and collaborate with international and African designers, companies and social media influencers. As my aim is to have verified Online Store and walk in store across South Africa. The only expansion challenge I am facing is lack of Support from our Arts department they never know and support us till we blow up or die leaving the legacy behind.
