Vuyelwa Mbana was born in Klerksdorp in North West province and from a young age one could tell that being an artist is what she's meant to be even though she also didn't know that she could dance until her sister got her into it when she was in primary school. And with all that, she still has time to model. "I started modelling when I got to Joburg. I got approached by photographers and brands, so that encouraged me" , she said.
Veena started recording in March 2012 after she was introduced into music , one would say officially by a local rapper Poppkorn after she was heard on a singing competition "I believe music chose me, I want to use it to heal hearts and tell my story" , she told MaftownMag.
With everything that she does and passionate about, singing remains her first love because she's been singing for as long as she can remember as her mother used to tell her that she started singing before she could speak.

On Monday the 30th of September 2019 was the release of the much anticipated single 'Without You' which she describes as a cool break up song that if you are not a millennial, you'd think it was take from a 90s Hip Hop and RnB. She says the song is one that you'd dedicate to someone who thinks that you are nothing without them and want you to believe it "I wrote the song because I wanted to empower myself and others especially those who never felt what it's like to have a present father" , Veena explained. Her latest single truly more than a break up song but to also acknowledge that whatever you've been through has made you strong enough to stand your ground and not settle for less. With that said, she's working on an album with Huey Ozyl, bringing you the new age African sound that has a lot of colour and emotion and 2020 is just the perfect year that she describes as great already.

The talented singer, songwriter would love to see herself working with Ami Faku and Shekhinah who happen to be her favourite female artists "they are amazing women outside their music and just really inspire me" , she mentioned. And her biggest achievement would be working with Burna Boy, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage. We trust that with that voice of yours and the album you are working on will most definitely lead you to your ambitions.
